St. Anthony of Padua Parish Pastoral Council
Since the beginning of April 2017, the Mission Statement of our parish has appeared at the top of our web page. It reads: "St. Anthony's is a Roman Catholic family of faith, rooted in tradition, centered on the Holy Eucharist, faithful to the Church's teaching, bringing the light of Christ to each other and to our community." In the Past few months, a parish Pastoral Council has been formed to provide a framework through which we can best utilize the resources and talents we have here at St. Anthony's to live out this mission statement as a parish and as part of this community.
In the Fall of 2015, Bishop Barres directed each parish in the Diocese to form a pastoral council. In his directive, he stated: "Parish Pastoral Councils are an essential element of the parish and an invaluable resource to pastors in providing good leadership for the overall life of the parish." St. Anthony's Pastoral Council is to be a vehicle through which the needs and aspirations of the parishioners can be presented and discussed for the benefit and advice of the pastor.
The primary focus of St. Anthony's Pastoral Council is evangelization. Evangelization is a constant seeking of ways to reach out to all people in our community with God's message of love. We do this in a variety of ways, including education, pastoral care, liturgy, social outreach and ecumenical initiatives. St. Anthony's Pastoral Council is intended to assist the pastor in discovering the talents and resources within the parish community to respond to the call of evangelization in each of these areas.
To the right is a list of the names of the current council members. Hey are to serve as a voice of you, the parishioners, in finding ways to better proclaim the good news of God's love to our family, friends and neighbors. Any activities or initiatives of the Council will be communicated through the bulletin, the web site and other means of communication.
